In the spirit of a new season let’s talk about growth, change, pushing past fear, doubt, and choosing to step into a season of be brave in the place you’re in. Sometimes when we are in a dry, frustrating, and unsatisfying season, we try to fast forward, and get to the happy season where we are comfortable, satisfied, and happy with the season we are in.
I remember my senior year in college, my boyfriend(now husband) dumped me. I was sad, heartbroken, and felt like my life was over. The breakup was a surprise for me. I quickly entered into this season of being stagnant in every area of my life. In my mind, I decided it was okay to stay in my sadness and not take care of myself and well being.
In the middle of grieving what I had lost. I remembered Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8, 11
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace….. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. “
These verses reminded me that even in the middle of a difficult season, I can still enjoy life. In a sad season, I can still laugh, and enjoy time with friends. In a season where everything seems to come undone and everything is painful, I can choose to enjoy discovering more about myself, and being healed from the past hurts I had chosen avoid.
If you are in difficult or dark place take heart, a new season is here. Spring is a sign of dead things coming to life, the lost being found, or stepping into a fresh mindset and perspective. It’s okay to grief, be sad, and feel the hurt. However, it’s also okay to choose to get up, dust yourself off, and put one foot in front of the other and enter into a season of being renewed and healed.
You might be thinking “ well Winnie that is easier said than done” you are right, it is easier said than done, but what solves that problem is taking one step at time. Here are a few tips that can hopefully help you get started, and spring into action.
- It all starts in your mind. Do you want to get of your funk? Sit down and really think about it and make a decision.
- Make a plan and stick with it. Make a plan to eat well, get out more, meet with a friend or walk every day.
- Like Ecclesiastes says, there is a season for everything. Which means that this season will come to a close. You’ll come to a season that brings that new thing. This is not the end.
The mind is a powerful thing and when not used right, a person can end up in a dark place. Spring into a new season by setting your mind on things about. Colossians 3:1-2
I hope this post blesses you as you enter into this new season with bravery and trust in the Lord. Remember because of Jesus, you have the authority to take your thoughts captive, say no to the enemy, and say Yes to life in Christ.
Happy spring beloved.
With joy and sunshine,
